Driven by the life course approach to public health, I have become grounded in my commitment to consider children's unique vulnerabilities and capacities before, during, and after emergencies. My work in a variety of developmental and emergency settings has given me insight into how different stages of life offer different opportunities for intervention. I am inspired by equitable whole-community preparedness efforts that drive a culturally competent approach to the disaster life cycle. As disasters exacerbate existing inequities in our communities, it is essential to act in ways that are accountable to serving every individual in emphasis of their humanity. My academic research interests include resilience promotion, cycles of violence, emergency preparedness behaviors, crisis intervention efficiency, embodiment of lived experience, and the impacts of trauma on child development.
