In the midst of a heightened political divide throughout the country, on January 6th, individuals and groups advancing a common political agenda stormed and breached the U.S. Capitol, resulting in the death of one U.S. Capitol Police officer and several protestors. Leading up to the Presidential Inauguration on January 20th, protests and civil unrest continued, resulting in the need for enhanced law enforcement collaboration and communication between subregional and federal law enforcement entities.
On behalf of the COG Police Chiefs Committee and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, Perses Consulting is developing an After-Action Report/Improvement Plan (AAR/IP) on the regional law enforcement response to the January 6, 2021 events that occurred at the U.S. Capitol, as well as events preceding the Inauguration.
